Lead Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description:

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer oversees the department and ensures all manufacturing documentation, stencils, programs and processes are in place within the appropriate timeframe. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.



Essential Functions

1. Adhere to the company's ISO Quality Management System.

2. Define and improve the manufacturing documentation system.

3. Create, review and release manufacturing documents to be used for the production assembly of electronic circuit boards and corresponding assembly projects.

4. Perform manufacturing technician duties as needed.

5. Oversee and maintain ECN, and ECR processes.

6. Assist quoting with alternate and substitute part/package solutions. Research part equivalent replacements.

7. Design Production Tooling.

8. Provide technical support for testers and failed electronic assembly.

9. Provide technical services for engineering department as necessary.

10. Coordinate for tester development.

11. Serve as liaison between manufacturing and sales/engineering department and department personnel.

12. Communicate with customers on technical issues as needed.

13. Monitor the production schedule to ensure production documents are complete and ready at the start of the production job.

14. Implement Lean Manufacturing processes for SMT and assembly lines.

15. Strategically implement statistical process controls for monitoring and improving product quality.

16. Continually improve department processes to include production routing and documentation.

17. Support and improve ECN process for department.

18. Provide employee coaching, training and development.

19. Assign work daily for direct reports.

20. Assist and lead a team of Technicians that create production documentation, create stencils and program machines.

21. Provide engineering support for troubleshooting efforts.

22. Ensure work area is kept clean and free of debris.

23. Adhere to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.

24. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position oversees various positions in Manufacturing Engineering and is responsible for the performance management of these employees.



Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to working near moving mechanical parts and caustic fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.



Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, use fine hand motor skills/dexterity, use repetitive motions, and lift and/or move up to 15 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Travel

Occasional travel may be expected for this position.



Required Education and Experience



1. Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.

2. 5+ years of experience working in Manufacturing Engineering.

3. Experience in electronics manufacturing and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

4. Experience with Lean Manufacturing

5. Experience coaching and mentoring employees.

6. Excellent problem-solving, project management and communication skills.



Preferred Education and Experience



1. Bachelor's degree in related field.

2. Experience being a Lead or Manager.

3. Experience with New Product Introduction.
