Job Description:
Founded in 1909, Racine Country Club (RCC) is an exclusive
member-owned private club located in Racine, Wisconsin on the
shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. RCC's majestic, stately and
historic clubhouse overlooks the finest 18-hole golf course in
Southeast Wisconsin with a winter golf practice facility (Billows
Lodge). In addition to golf, membership enjoys first class
amenities including tennis, paddleball, pickleball, three pools,
fitness center, bowling, superior locker-room facilities, and a
busy social calendar. The clubhouse contains exceptional facilities
for member dining, private meeting/dining rooms, outdoor patios and
space for banquets and social activities. The clubhouse is open for
membership to enjoy 11 months of the year. RCC has a distinguished
history of high-quality food preparation, presentation, creativity
and service and a reputation for "the best food" in the area.
The Assistant General Manager reports directly to and works closely
with the General Manager/COO. This individual is responsible for
the general operations of all food and beverage service,
housekeeping, maintenance, security, aquatics, and coordinates
clubhouse services with sports activities. This role is supported
by and oversees Clubhouse Manager, Assistant Clubhouse Manager,
Food and Beverage Service Director, Bar Manager, Locker Room
Manager, Facilities Managers, and Outside Food and Beverage
Supervisor. This position coordinates the smooth operation and
interrelation of departmental staff functions.
Key Objectives:
Clubhouse Operations and Oversight
Observe and evaluate all areas of responsibility while working with
the management team to create a continuous and evolving plan of
improvement for membership satisfaction and addressing deficiencies
and concerns
Coordinates with management team to ensure successful and proactive
club event planning and consistent post event P/L analysis
Assures Club's preventative maintenance and energy management
programs are in use
Participates and follows up in on-going facility inspections
throughout the Club to assure that cleanliness, maintenance, safety
and other standards are maintained
Responsible for the security of the clubhouse facilities relative
to systems, opening and closing assignments
Monitors safety conditions and employee conformance with safety
procedures; updates emergency plan and procedures and assures
proper employee training is conducted on a regular basis
(CPR/AED/First Aid, Food Handling, MSDS, and Alcohol Awareness)
Service Excellence
Lead and coach management team to provide consistent, outstanding
Member and guest service in all F&B service areas
Develops and maintains service standards for each department
Develops and implements continual training programs to continually
maintain and enhance service throughout the Club
Engages with Members and helps assure maximum Member and guest
satisfaction by answering questions and solving problems
Lead and coach management team to focus on consistent quality of
Member experience as it relates to physical facilities (clubhouse,
golf, racquet sports, pool)
Financial + Strategic Planning
Assists with budget preparation and adheres to budget guidelines
for clubhouse operations including costing of events, personnel
costs, and projections for the operation of clubhouse services
Assists in the planning of facility improvements, remodeling,
construction and repair; interacts with appropriate club committees
for this purpose
Assists in the development of the Long Range Plan and acting on
annual capital improvement projects
Prepares annual budget for respective departments; monitors actual
performance to budget and takes corrective action as necessary to
help assure that budget goals are met.
Assist General Manager with capital budget development.
Other
Counsels with other managers and employees regarding employee
grievances and complaints; directs solutions where possible
Serves as an ad hoc committee member for all committees
Attends management and staff meetings as schedule
Assists in enforcing Board approved house rules and operational
procedures set by the General Manager
Assures proper hiring and performance reviews are implemented for
their respective team
Undertakes special projects from the General Manager as
required
Competencies and Qualifications
Degree in hospitality management and/or college degree along with
previous progressive experience in hotel, resort, restaurant or
catering, required. Previous club experience is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, train and lead line staff in
a respectful and collaborative manner.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Solid operational and financial skills with experience in budget
development and execution.
Technical experience in purchasing/price methods, POS updates, and
hospitality-related software, as well as proficiency in Microsoft
Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
Capable of a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in
directing the activities of the staff and being able to present a
consummately professional and polished image to the membership and
staff.
Strong organizational skills and with ability to set priorities and
delegate effectively with appropriate follow-through and
oversight.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a team.
