Job DescriptionMajor Responsibilities:

• Performs routine therapeutic procedures appropriate for specialty area and within scope of practice as determined by education and/or experience.
• Consults with physician as appropriate.
• Elicits a personal medical history and assesses and determines differential diagnosis. Prescribes accordingly.
• Instructs and counsels patients on physical/mental health including, but not limited to, diet, preventive health measures, disease, treatment, and normal growth and development.
• As part of the health care team, performs evaluation and treatment procedures necessary to provide an appropriate response to life-threatening emergency situations. Assists in providing emergency medical interventions until a physician arrives.
• Signs medical and nursing plan and maintain records according to established standards and guidelines.
• Maintains appropriate processes related to operations, including reporting, cash processes, and use of technology.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.Licenses & CertificationsPhysician Assistant license issued by the state in which the caregiver practices.Physician Assistant (PA-C) certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the caregiver practices, andAdvanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state of Wisconsin, andNurse Practitioner (ANCC) certification issued by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), orNurse Practitioner (AANP) certification issued by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), andDrug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration, andBasic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providerscertification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). May obtain within 6 months based on department discretion.DegreesBachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant.Master's Degree in Nursing.Required Functional ExperienceWould prefer experienceKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesDemonstrated high level of clinical proficiency, and excellent decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a health care team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with others. Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the workday.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing.
  • Will be exposed to the following hazards on a continuous basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, protective clothing (i.e., goggles, lead apron, gloves, gowns, etc.) must be worn as necessary.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
