located at our beautiful Headquarters along Lake Michigan in
downtown Racine: 555 Main Street, Racine, WI.About the Role:High
energy and motivated individual to provide legal counsel and advice
to four diverse business units with global operations and functions
on moderately complex to complex legal matters such as commercial
matters (licensing agreements, distributor agreements, dealer
relations, supply agreements), product safety and quality matters,
marketing, and advertising, including legal research and analysis
on the same. Also responsible for compliance training and
monitoring across the global organization, including policy
drafting and implementation on a wide spectrum of legal and
regulatory matters.What you will be doing:
- Develops strong partnerships with all business units and
functions across the organization on routine legal matters
providing effective legal support in time effective and efficient
manner.
- Provides legal counsel and performs analysis and research
across the organization on various issues, policies, and
procedures. Collaborates with outside legal counsel and supervises
the work performed.
- Performs advanced analysis, and develops as well as implements
company policies and procedures, including training, and ensures
periodic monitoring.
- Writes reports, opinions, correspondence, and other legal
documents related to processes, policies, procedures, and
contracting. Analyzes and researches statutes, regulations, and
legal issues to ensure required regulatory and legal requirements
are followed.
- Identifies and prioritizes key risks for the organization in
compliance areas across business units and functions. Partners
across the organization to implement appropriate policies and
training; collaborates with internal audit to implement appropriate
monitoring in partnership with external legal counsel for
international businesses; supports the risk committee; conducts
internal investigations as necessary; and provides regular reports
to executive management
- Assists in ensuring the organization maintains ongoing
regulatory compliance with applicable federal and state laws,
rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to the legal team's ongoing efforts to create,
improve, and operationalize internal processes, best practices, and
commercial templates, and assists in various administrative tasks
related to the Legal Department as assigned.
- Performs other legal duties as assigned.What you need to
succeed:
- Juris doctor awarded by a national law school accredited by the
American Bar Association; legal journal/law review experience a
plus; licensed to practice in Wisconsin.
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience as a
practicing attorney. Prior experience providing corporate legal
counsel within a manufacturing or corporate environment and strong
private practice experience at a regional or national level law
firm is highly desirable.
- Excellent business and financial acumen to understand the
business effect of decisions made. Excellent skills and abilities
in grasping legal and business issues quickly to balance risks and
practice practical and constructive legal advice in a
time-sensitive, dynamic environment.
- Strong critical thinking and ability to develop effective
solutions based on appropriate standards and business needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to
communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of
employees, management, executives, external stakeholders. Ability
to successfully mediate difficult and controversial issues,
organizational policies, and procedures in the context of
applicable laws and regulations. Excellent writing skills with
demonstrated proficiency in drafting legal reports, documents,
agreements, and policies.
- Experienced and comfortable working in a cross-cultural
environment,
- Proficient at analyzing laws, regulations, standards, governing
documents, contracts, risk management issues and matters to advise
the organization on legal risk.
- Skilled at performing legal research, drafting, and editing
various legal documents and advising an organization to ensure
