Job Description Job Description Position Description: Perform
functions to lead and assist with the operation of the shipping and
receiving department, ensuring the quick and efficient processing
and handling of all inbound and outbound orders while maintaining
inventory accuracy and optimal warehouse organization and staffing.
Primary Responsibilities: Provide daily hands-on support to the
Shipping and Receiving Department, reviews inbound and outbound
schedules to determine priorities Supervise the hourly shipping
crew to ensure that all finished goods for customer orders are
picked and labeled correctly and that all shipments are in good
condition and filled in full and on time Supervise the hourly
receiving crew to ensure all inbound loads are properly received,
stored and scanned in to location for accurate inventory records
and efficient retrieval of raw material Coordinate and communicate
departmental needs with other shifts and departments Ensure that
the inventory management system and warehouse management system are
used fully with full use of scanners by anyone moving goods and
materials in the warehouse for any reason Conduct cycle counts to
maintain inventory accuracy, investigating and resolving any
variances Actively look for opportunities to drive continuous
improvement, find efficiencies and facilitate total employee
involvement in the process Determine and set shipping and receiving
priorities to meet production schedules, customer orders and OTIF
requirements Manage inbound and outbound appointments to ensure
scheduling is executed on-time and in an efficient manner Maximize
teamwork and productivity, minimize costs, and maintain quality
through implementation of lean manufacturing techniques Actively
participate in food safety programs that ensure the safety of
ingredients and finished products Drive a food and employee safety
focused culture by being accountable for modeling appropriate
safety behaviors and conduct safety related training, inspections,
and policy/procedure compliance Troubleshoot problems/issues,
develop, recommend, and initiate action steps that provide
resolution to achieve positive results Serve as a role model for
workers in terms of work ethic, professional image, and conduct in
full compliance with all work rules and policies Serve as a
forklift certification instructor and facilitate all aspects for
the forklift certification process for employees Survey equipment,
facility and racking for proper maintenance and repair, requesting
maintenance as needed to ensure all equipment is in good working
condition Perform other functions as assigned S u
pervisory/Management Responsibilities: Assign duties and
responsibilities to meet KPI’s and department goals Maintain staff
by hiring, orienting and training employees on company rules,
safety, and job functions Coach, counsel, motivate, and carries out
discipline Resolve personnel issues in accordance with company
guidelines and policies Enforce systems, policies, and procedures
consistently and fairly Oversee employee participation and
adherence to food safety and employee safety programs and policies
Monitor and process employee attendance records/timecards and PTO
in a timely manner Requirements: High School Diploma or GED
equivalent A minimum of 2 years of progressive shipping and
receiving experience 1 - 2 years of supervisory experience,
preferred Capable of working in a fast-paced environment Basic
experience in the application of lean principles Demonstrated
proficiency in time and project management Effective communication
and training skills Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
Ability to multi-task Proficient in Microsoft Office Knowledgeable
of OSHA and general safety guidelines Understanding of
Transportation Management Systems Ability to work independently
Able to work weekends Physical Requirements: Able to work in
temperatures 34 degree or less for extended periods of time Able to
bend, stand, or squat as needed Able to lift up to 60 pounds
occasionally Preferred Skills: Experience with ERP and WMS Systems
Bilingual – English and Spanish Supervisory experience in a union
environment Prior forklift and reach truck driving experience
