This role in summary The Tool Room Wire EDM Machinist is a safety-sensitive position within the Tool Room department, reporting to the Tool Room Supervisor. The role's primary purpose is to provide technical support for the repair and manufacturing of new and existing tooling, including prototype applications, used in manufacturing processes as well as program and operate Charmilles EDM equipment, maintain tight tolerances, and support tooling and die fabrication. Base rate for position: $33.51 MUST SUBMIT RESUME WITH APPLICATION Your responsibilities will include \n Create machining programs using company provided CAD/CAM software and the machine controllers. Review programs to be used to operate the wire EDM machines. \n Responsible for the set-up and operation of the wire EDM machine and equipment in order to meet precise tolerances and finishes. \n Download, set-up and check programs prior to operating CNC machining equipment including;milling machines, lathes and surface grinders in order to meet precise tolerances and finishes. \n Assist Tool Room and manufacturing with any machining requirements and tool repairs as necessary. Set-up and prepare tooling per machining requirements. \n Build and finish to blueprint specification: die components, fixtures, production equipment and machinery components including prototype parts fabrication while maintaining precision tolerances and desired finish. \n Do any required light maintenance on Charmilles wire EDM equipment per manufacturer's requirements. \n Perform additional assignments as directed by the position's Lead or supervisor. \n Must be knowledgeable of and operate within the provisions of the Tool Room "DQOP" and "ISO" policies and procedures. \n Participate in activities to assist in ensuring safe working conditions for facility employees. \n \n Minimum requirements \n Working knowledge of CNC/NC programming and CADCAM systems is required (Esprit & ProtoTrak preferred.) \n Requires an Associate Degree in a technical discipline and two (2) years of tool room related experience; OR a high school diploma or equivalent, post secondary education equivalent to one year of a technical discipline and four (4) years of tool room experience; OR a high school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of tool room experience. \n Ability to comprehend blueprints and schematics relating to tooling, equipment, and fixtures. \n Working knowledge of tool room equipment, including but not limited to: Bridgeport mills, lathes,surface grinders, vertical machining centers and other ancillary equipment. \n Math competency in basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry. \n Understanding of tool steel selection process and application. \n Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment. \n Ability to use precision measuring equipment including dial indicators, calipers, and micrometers. \n \n Preferred skills and experiences \n Knowledge of metal heat-treating \n Knowledge on use of technical measuring equipment such as coordinate measuring machines and optical comparators. \n \n Why should you apply? \n Base rate of $33.51 \n Up to 120 hours of paid time off (prorated based on start date) \n Medical, dental, vision, 401k and other benefits available immediately \n Tuition reimbursement \n Growth opportunities \n Perfect Attendance Bonus \n Appliance Discounts \n \n Connect with us and learn more about Whirlpool Corporation See what it's like to work at Whirlpool by visiting Whirlpool Careers.
