Job Description Job Description General Purpose: Assists the Production Supervisor in keeping the line running during production hours. Assists Maintenance Manager with preventive maintenance tasks as assigned. NOTE: Depending on the task being performed, wearing personal protective equipment is mandatory. Essential Functions: · Carries out daily work orders supplied by the Maintenance Manager · Performs mechanical and electrical inspection and repairs · Fabricates various elements according to drawings and specifications provided by the Maintenance Manager · Keeps track of tools used during work hours and return them to proper location when finished. · Informs Maintenance manager when maintenance supplies and/or spares need to be ordered. · Troubleshoots problems on the Production Line, during and/or after production hours, and makes repairs as required to ensure continued safe operation · Makes any necessary repairs to the facility as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor · Makes rounds on the floor to inspect performance of all machinery and make repairs if needed · Provides support to all of the technicians for all of the areas if necessary · Keeps the production floor clean and the Machine Shop clean from tools, extension cords, hoses, motors, screws, etc. · Makes sure that all electrical boxes and cabinets are closed · Ensures that all equipment is shut off when the plant is shut down for a long weekend · Check emergency exits for egress and the areas where fire extinguishers are stored · Understands that wearing personal protective equipment based on the task being performed is mandatory. Informs supervisor if additional PPE is needed to make a job safer. · Does all other duties as assigned including line set-up if competent. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: · High School Diploma or Trade School Certificate with a minimum of six months of related mechanical/electrical experience · An individual is considered qualified upon notification by the PS or department head to the DHR that the employee has successfully completed the training and is qualified to perform the position. Notation of this notification is made in the employee’s training record. · Must be familiar with the machinery used in the company · Ability to make quick, accurate repairs to machinery and/or work with an outside contractor as directed by the Maintenance Manager · Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical drawings, electrical and mechanical schematics and procedure manuals · Ability to speak some English preferred · Ability to add, subtract, divide, multiply and perform various measurements and conversions as necessary · Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form · For a list of mandatory training for this position, please see the Training Plan at QS PR 6.2.2.2 Training Plan Physical Requirements: These are physical and mental requirements of the position as it is typically performed.
