responsible for the anticipation, identification and evaluation of
hazardous conditions including the prescription of appropriate and
effective counter measures. Regularly review InSinkErator safety &
health programs and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory
agencies and Emerson standards. Facilitate and coordinate plant
safety initiatives, actively engage with manufacturing personnel.
Evaluate safety and worker's compensation measurements to gauge the
effectiveness of the business unit's safety and health
AS THE DIRECTOR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY, YOU WILL:
- Be responsible for full range of health and safety duties for
all InSinkErator facilities, including Racine, Mount Pleasant &
Sturtevant locations, International sites, and satellite sales
- Utilize data driven solutions to implement ongoing compliance
efforts, improvement plans and continuous improvement strategies to
create a zero-injury safety culture. Create and track Safety &
Environmental KPIs to evaluate results and perform root cause
analysis for all Safety measure effectiveness.
- Collaborate and build strong partnerships with operations
management and hourly employees to ensure accountability related to
safety policy interpretation, application of plant safety rules and
- Coordinate development and documentation of corrective actions
including new/revised policies and procedures.
- Lead the investigation process for all recordable, near-miss
and property damage accidents & incidents; determine root causes,
and recommend changes in procedures, practices, and methods to
prevent recurrence. Ensure all documentation is complete and
- Coordinate and facilitate all Business Unit environmental,
safety and health training, including but not limited to confined
space, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Laws, and
- Partner with Emerson and other Business Units to understand
internal best practices and implement updates of Emerson
Environmental, Safety and Health standards.
- Drive in-house safety and ergonomics committees to identify
issues and implement corrective solutions related to
- Manage worker's compensation program.
- Manage Environmental permitting, compliance, and sustainability
- Conduct Industrial Hygiene exposure assessments, conduct
sampling, and communicate monitoring results.
- Ensure total compliance with Federal, State and Local
- Provide supervision and leadership for Environmental, Health &
Safety team through coaching and counseling and by developing
annual goals and performance measurements.

Flexible Work Schedule - Remote Work Option and Core Hours
This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to
three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex
your start and stop times given you are working during the core
hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure our
chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we
serve the needs of our customers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.A/B.S) from four year college of
university in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial
Hygiene/Safety, Environmental/Safety, Safety engineering or related
field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a
manufacturing setting required
- Prior people leadership experience
- Possess a thorough knowledge of all applicable OSHA and related
safety and environmental regulations
- Demonstrated soft skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communications
- Planning and prioritization - manage multiple projects and
- Analytical skills - ability to analyze data, define trends, and
develop conclusions and recommendations
- Willingness to travel (less than 10%)

Master's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial
