Job Title:  Registered Nurse Supervisor - Nursing 

Department:  Intensive Care Unit (ICU) 

Location:  Ascension All Saints Hospital

City, State:  Racine, WI

Hours/Work Schedule/Shift: Full-time, Nights, 36 hours. 


What You Will Do

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assesses daily patient care needs and develops and distributes patient care assignments of clinical;/non-clinical and/or an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers and support staff, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given
  • In accordance with the applicable State Nurse Practice act, delegates appropriate duties to clinical/non-clinical or interdisciplinary teams of licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff based on their assessed skills and abilities
  • Gather information from other members of the clinical/non-clinical or interdisciplinary team and uses this data to plan for the care of all patients on the unit for the shift
  • Evaluates the care delivered by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers and support staff by providing direct and immediate feedback and coaching, ongoing verbal and written feedback to the clinical/non-clinical leader on the performance of staff and evaluating the performance trends under his/her direction and recommends and participates in the corrective/disciplinary action as required
  • Participates in the hiring process for new staff members assigned to the shift by conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations to the clinical/non-clinical leader
  • Oversee as needed for clinical and non-clinical staff such as RN Leads
  • Able to care for and assess all patient population assigned to unit (fully training and knowledgeable in all devices, patient population, critical thinking/assessment skills
  • As needed performs direct patient care, operates equipment safely and correctly, and carries out medical treatments and special procedures
  • Committee leader to assist with implementing practice changes, policy writing and assessment/reevaluations
  • Assists clinical leader with budget metrics and goals, ensuring productivity is met
  • Environmental care rounds and assisting clinical leaders with Joint Commission compliance and standards
  • Assist unit and hospital support when clinical leader is not present (acting manager when clinical leader on PTO)
  • Assist clinical leader with ensuring staff engagement as an staff advocate
  • Assist clinical leader with documentation and conducting staff counseling, performance improvement Development Plans, corrective action, hiring and termination of staff
  • Assist clinical leader with safety events and investigations
  • Assist clinical leader with patient relations, staff and patient rounding
  • Assist clinical with meeting benchmarks for patient experience, goal setting and unit performance, improvement/implementation of practice for quality metrics standards
  • Conduct/arrange meeting/agenda for unit improvement
  • Assist clinical leader with weekly staff updates and notifications
  • Supply Chain management
  • Assists with and Coordinates/maintains the required training and competencies of staff
  • Recognizes the diverse skill levels of individual staff members and the unique needs of the patient population when developing staffing plans; ensures appropriate level of staffing 
  • As needed, performs direct patient care, operates equipment safely and correctly, and carries out medical treatments and special procedures.

What You Will Need


  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in.
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Minnesota Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in.


  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior leadership experience (Charge RN, supervisor, etc)
  • CCRN
  • Strong cardiac background
  • ACLS
  • Minimum of 5 years ICU experience of all patient population and devices
    • IABP
    • CRRT (Nxstage)
    • Cardiac/CVOR
    • Impella
