Job Description Job Description Payroll Specialist About the Position Our well-established company located in Oak Lawn, IL is seeking to hire a Payroll Specialist to assist with all activities regarding the management of payroll to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. Candidates should be detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of the concept of confidentiality. The preferred candidate is one that is willing to be trained in numerous areas within the accounting department and can assist the Controller and CFO with other special projects as needed. The company has been around for over 50 years and specializes in the trucking industry. The company offers excellent benefits and promotes their employees from within. Responsibilities · Process payroll (weekly and semi) for multiple companies over multiple states · File and pay taxes according to state and federal guidelines · Maintain and update employee information in payroll system and physical files · Provide day-to-day payroll support, including answering employees’ questions and concerns · Assist with employee benefits including group health insurance, retirement plans, and cafeteria plans · Assist accounting team with month and year-end close including support with annual audit · Serve as back-up for the Payroll Manager as needed · Other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned · Ability to be trained in other accounting functions of the company (A/P, A/R, cash) Requirements/Qualifications · High School Diploma/GED required · 3 years of payroll experience preferred · Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel · Experience with Attendance on Demand preferred · Excellent communication skills · Strong attention to detail
